The Incense Sampler
The Incense Sampler
These are entirely natural, backflow style cones. I don't buy blanks - I make the dough, form each cone, scent all with essential oils and my own extractions. People ask me constantly about designing and stocking more incense. They love creations such as my Aged Kyphi Incense Pearls, but they want something entirely natural they can use every day that doesn't require all of the ceremony [coals/tealight warmer/electric incense heaters/etc.]. Y'all wanna be able to light it and enjoy. I grant wishes as inclined. Incense is Perfumery.
You will receive one each of seven different formulations. Each cone will burn approximately 15-20 minutes. These are designed for use in a backflow incense holder so as to enjoy the visual beauty of the dancing smoke. You can of course use whatever type of holder you like.
Eternity's Flowers: Magnolia flowers from our small, chemical-free garden I dried and powdered myself. Ylang Ylang powder. Mysore Sandalwood. Magnolia, Ylang Ylang and Rose Damascena essential oils.
Father Bacchus: Mysore Sandalwood, Mastic, Italian Wine, Beeswax Absolute, Pinon Pine and Cypress essential oils. Vanilla, Costus and Ivy I extracted myself.
Gravedirt & Brick Dust: Myrrh, two types of Dragon's Blood, Mysore Sandalwood, Red Cedarwood, Red Clay, Tree Moss Absolute, Clove essential oil. Galbanum and South Louisiana Propolis I extracted myself.
Haint Country: Appalachian Mood Moss + Coal from a local abandoned mine I powdered myself. Aged Kentucky Bourbon + Barrel Wood. Roasted Shagbark Hickory. Black Walnuts. An accord I composed evocative of Ripe Pawpaw Fruit, Redbud Flowers and a few drops of That Old Kentucky Rain. Be sure to check out the book - Haint Country: Dark Folktales from the Hills and Hollers!
Jupiter's Favor: Palo Santo and White Sage powders, aged together for a year. Royal Green Hojari Frankincense. Nutmeg essential oil and Saffron I extracted myself.
Obsidian Rose: Mysore Sandalwood. Rose Damascena essential oil. Ambrette Seed, Labdanum and Lapsang Souchong I extracted myself.
Spiced Oud: Vetiver Root and Agarwood I powdered myself. Black Pepper and Cardamom essential oils. Oakmoss Absolute. More Vetiver and Agarwood I extracted myself.
Third Photo: Magnolia Flowers from our small, chemical-free garden I gathered and allowed to air dry in the Spring. Whole petals in the gallon bag, torn by hand there in the bowl, powdered and sifted there in the jar. A full bowl equates to the amount of powder there in the jar.
Fourth Photo: This batch is called "Eternal Flowers." It's my natural take on Nag Champa. My Magnolia powder being one of the ingredients. Here you see a small amount of my dough before shaping.
Fifth Photo: Hand-formed cones drying. Each cone is different. I got in the habit of doing that 15+ years ago when I offered Japanese Tea Ceremony Incense Pearls. People thought I was buying my incense in bulk from Japan and repackaging everything and lying about making it myself. Some would take such comments as "compliments. " I receive too many actual compliments to do such a thing.
