Papa Legba Vèvè Linocut Print
Papa Legba Vèvè Linocut Print
This is an uncommon Vèvè for Papa Legba called "Legba Carrefour."
He's First and Last. The Crossroads. The Gates. The Doors. Opening and closing. Communications, interpreted. Having a foot in each world explains the limp. The Greatest Trickster. The most cherished and respected.
I spent 20+ hours carving this design into a piece of classic, Battleship Gray Linoleum. I used red oil-based ink and one of my manual presses to transfer each to natural, acid-free printmaking paper made from kozo and hemp in a Japanese Mill that has been creating such Fine Art papers for over 300 years. After the ink dried, I made each all the more unique with Sumi and brush, pen and ink and Ritual Offerings [cane sugar, coffee, incense].
Each hand-torn, signed print is approximately 9" × 12". Each is delivered to you rolled, as is only befitting a Ceremonial Scroll.
