Smudging washes away the outside world. Form a clear Intention before you begin. Light one end of your smudge stick and allow to burn for a few seconds before blowing out the flame for smoldering smoke. Place your smudge stick on a fire-safe surface [clay bowl, shell, agate dish]. The room where you are smudging must be well ventilated. Open all the doors and windows. This is essential to drive out the negative energies by providing an exit route.
